Project Background
The engineering and construction sectors are responsible for a significant share of global carbon emissions, yet sustainability and Nature-Based Solutions remain insufficiently embedded in higher education systems.
At the same time, Higher Education Institutions are required to adapt to rapid technological advancements, evolving labour market demands, and European policy priorities related to the green and digital transitions.
NATURELLES addresses these challenges by developing a comprehensive educational framework that integrates sustainability principles, digital innovation, and practice-based learning. The project contributes to equipping future engineers with the knowledge and competencies required to design environmentally responsible and socially impactful solutions.
Project Approach
NATURELLES adopts an integrated and multidisciplinary approach that combines digital education, applied learning, and cross-sector collaboration.
A central element of the project is the NbS Digital Hub, an AI-powered platform providing open-access educational resources, interactive tools, and immersive learning experiences supported by augmented and virtual reality technologies.
The implementation follows a structured process:
- Development of digital learning modules and tools
- Integration of NbS into higher education curricula
- Organisation of pilot activities, focus groups, and testing phases
- Delivery of targeted training activities and workshops
- Dissemination, evaluation, and long-term sustainability planning
